GONE GIRL

Gone Girl..... This book was one of most the hyped and anticipated book, I had read and to be frank, I did not think it was worth its hype. I know all of you will think I am mad, but my anticipation was on the top and i found myself keeping the book closed at times. This is my reason for giving it a 4 stars. But I really liked the writing style of Gillian Flynn and loved the way she put together both the characters - Amy and Nick. The story was really full of twists and turns that i was continuously changing my view as well as my love for the characters. Both the characters were flawed and the way the author had depicted the flaws and show us the bigger picture is truly amazing. The psychological factor in this book makes you wonder if all the people we see around us as well as know of are psychos or not, what more to tell you will surly access yourself to know if you are a psycho or not. The characters were so strong and slowly, in bits and pieces, the entire story unfolded to give us

AN EMBER IN THE ASHES

An Ember in the Ashes...... This was truly an amazing book....too close now to my heart.....as it was the first fantasy book I read after Harry Potter. It's been almost 10 years since Harry Potter and I was not sure whether I would love fantasy. Now I know the answer....I love fantasy genre. This book opened my eyes. So now you guys know my love for this book. So now let's talk about the book. This book deals with 2 main characters....a fearless boy and a scared girl, both fighting for the same thing....freedom. This story deals with revolution and tells in depth about the struggles of both the oppressed as well as the oppressor. This book made me feel for the characters, made me understand their life, their sufferings as well as their hopes. The fantasy of this book is just an introduction to what will be continued in the following books of the series. Here we get to know the characters, their attitudes and their situations.....it's the next books in which the story

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA

The Devil Wears Prada...... I finished this book just yesterday at 1:00 am. So this book is a breather from my usual genre, I really loved the characters especially Miranda. I know she is a bitch but loved her don't care attitude. She is bossy, confident and is totally the evil boss anyone can relate too. The main reason for my love to this book is that I also have a boss and I too feel all bosses are too cruel & would love to just say "Fuck off". But just like Andrea & Emily, I too am sucking it up and going on till I reach my limit. This book was super funny, I actually laughed out loud & was able to relate to the characters. There is not much plot but this book is a good break from all the stress we all face in our day to day mundane work. It will definitely make all of you laugh and unwind a bit as we see Andrea is with a much more worse boss than ours. The ending, even though it was a cliche, there were moments when i thought Andrea would give up ,

Rebecca

Rebecca...... This book was actually surprise to me. At first I did not like the book as I felt it was lagging on and on, the suddenly after 300 pages it became a roller coaster ride. I could not put down the book & completed the book in hardly 1 day, I even dreamed about the ending & plot. Now that I have finished this amazing book, I would say that this book is an incredible one, which will mark its place in you minds, as we see & understand each character, their daily routines, their life as well as insecurities. It made me feel that the book has a soul of its own....it showed me the wonderful life in Manderley, its gardens, Happy valley, lawns, rooms & its dreams. I understood why the author had went to such depths to make us familiar with Manderley, the dreams & aspirations of the protagonist and of course about Rebecca. As i gaze up on my book, I feel like I can see Rebecca so clearly & with definition, and that for me is the success of the author, as

And Then There Were None

And Then There Were None..... I would say it is one of the most cunning book in the Agatha Christie novels. The one was a stand alone, which lead me thinking back and forth again and again trying to guess who was the killer. At one point I thought someone else was there in the house, unknown to me. But that's what i love about Agatha.....she leaves you clues openly but we are just too blind to see it. In this novel also, she cleared all my doubts & perception of the whole plot. It had a nice twist to it. But personally I love Hercule Poirot novels more as I love his way of explaining everything to us at the end of the book, feels like he is near me & clearing my troubles. So for me this book was lacking that Poirot effect. The plot was solid but the details given to explain the plot was lacking as compared to other Agatha novels where she makes sure we understand the victim as our own. For me it was a visual treat but not a reading treat. I was able to view the story b

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.... For me this book was an eye opener. I had always had my set of authors whose works I loved and enjoyed. I don't like experimenting with new authors as I didn't feel I would like them, let's just say that I have had my share of experimentation disasters. Millennium trilogy has opened my eyes to new works.....I have read the first book of the Trilogy and I would happily say that I am totally captivated by Stieg Larsson's work. I was not able to let go of the book even for a minute.....I used to dream and think about what will happen next 24/7. He is a genius who knows how to keep his audience in awe, at the same time, on the edge of your seat. All the characters are so well defined and we can totally fall in love with them. His work was so simple to follow yet so complex at the same time, not only the plot but also the characters. Only a few books will give us a breath taking plot at the same time some beloved characters whom w

Trespasser

Image
Trespasser..... This book, The Trespasser by Tana French is the first book I have read from her books. The things I really like about this book is that she gave me a new female protagonist and that to a Murder Detective, which I know I would really like, whom I have come to fall i love with. She is independent, has personal insecurities and a need to prove her worth to other, in and out a genuine character that I can totally relate to and understand. Secondly this is a part of a detective Novel series which i definitely love. Series is a blessing because even after you complete a book, you know that there are more coming out and you can still see you favorite characters come to light and shine for you. Thirdly I love the way she had described each and every feeling and thought that passes thought the protagonist, it shows how much love and care she has for Antoinette, which many authors don't have. I loved the way she described even the professional and emotional turmoil

A for Alibi

A for Alibi.... I have always been a fan of Sue Grafton's work. Even though I am reading her first work just now, I have already read two or three of her works and is addicted to her work. Kinsey is one of my favorite characters in crime series genre. A is for Alibi....To think that this book is her first work, it was one of the best works by Sue Grafton. The way she describes Kinsey, we can feel the love she has for Kinsey and the amount of thought and work she had put in it. I fell in love with Kinsey all over again when I read this book. It would be by far the best one in the series, though I have lots to read. The plot is well developed and is engaging. Even though I was able to guess the culprit, the motive was totally deviating. The author and character works perfectly hand in hand, through this single book itself, I am sure anyone will become a fab of this series. I believe it is because for every woman out there, Kinsey's life is what we dream for.....strong an
